Camping Supplies - Food Items
Category: Camping
This check list is in the following categories:
This camping checklist includes basic supplies and food preparation items needed for most meals. It is assumed that the campsite has electricity and clean water.
It is difficult to remember all the camping supplies needed for cooking. Limit the stress of packing the many cooking camping supplies by using this checklist each time you begin packing for a camping trip.
-
Skewers for cooking at the fire
Make sure they are extra long, sturdy, and have a heat resistant handle. Skewers with more than one prong make fireside cooking easier, for efficient and controlled.
-
Clamps for table cloth
This is a small item that is greatly appreciated when it's windy. A couple bungee cords may work in a pinch, but table cloth clamps work much better.
-
Extra reseal-able plastic bags
-
Large and small-sized garbage bags
-
Aluminum foil
Save space by tearing off and folding a few long strips of aluminum foil and leave the remaining roll at home. If you are planning on cooking baked potatoes when camping, clean and wrap them with aluminum foil before packing.
Aluminum foil is more versatile and easier to use when camping than clear wrap.
-
Clear plastic container for bread
A plastic container will keep bread or buns from getting smashed.
Include a table knife and sandwich toppings in another container for easy lunch preparation prior to setting up camp, if desired.
-
Cooking and serving utensils
- Metal tongs
- Long-handled spatula
- Wooden or metal spoon
- Cutting board
- Cork screw (if needed)
-
Cooking oil
Poor into a small squeeze bottle and place in a reseal-able bag in case the bottle leaks.
-
Butter in a plastic container
You may want to consider a butter spread for camping -- it will not melt as quickly as butter or margarine.
-
Salt, pepper, herbs, and spices
-
Hot pads and heat-resistant gloves
We recommend purchasing heat-resistant gloves for camping and home use. They provide more control than ordinary oven mitts and are easy clean and keep their shape when washed in a washing machine.
-
Paper towels (in a large reseal-able bag)
-
Plastic or metal eating utensils
-
Paper or plastic plates and cups
A sturdy, insulated travel mug is great for camping. It will keep drinks hot or cold and also keep out unwanted bugs.
-
Large thermos
-
Sealable containers for food
-
Wash bucket
-
Dish towels and wash clothes
-
Broom or small handheld vacuum
-
Scouring pad
-
Dish soap (biodegradable)
-
Plastic water pitcher with lid
A water pitcher (or bucket with handle) makes hauling water much easier.
-
Can opener
-
Charcoal briquettes and lighter fluid
-
fix bug where action menu doesn't appear in new lists or new items
-
Table cloth
